Explore our holistic therapies, including remedial massage, Chinese cupping and reflexology, at our Currimundi clinic

A massage isn’t only for relaxation purposes. At Rainbow Concepts Remedial Centre, we use a number of holistic treatments to help with chronic and acute pain, discomfort and diseases. These treatments include remedial massage therapy, reflexology and lymphatic drainage.

Before your first appointment, you’ll be asked to fill out a form detailing your medical history and the problems you’re experiencing. In the treatment room, we may request for you to perform a few movements and stretches so we can assess your mobility and flexibility. This will help us provide the most accurate treatment possible.

We generally will ask you to undress to your underwear and lay face down on the massage table to begin treatment. Towels are used to keep you warm and for modesty, however you can remain fully clothed if you prefer. After your treatment, ensure you drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol.

Visit our ‘how we can help you’ page for more information on any of our holistic treatments. Contact us or book online to arrange a treatment time at our Currimundi clinic that suits you.

Remedial Massage Therapy

The techniques used during a remedial massage can help improve circulation, which allows for more efficient blood supply to injured or problematic areas of the body. A better blood supply helps to remove built-up toxins. This can result in faster recovery and longer-lasting results, depending on the issue. Our clients also remark at how relaxed they after a treatment.

What can remedial massage therapy help with?

  • Stress
  • Back pain
  • Migraines
  • Whiplash
  • Shin splints
  • Groin strain
  • Circulation
  • Scoliosis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Cartilage damage
  • Hamstring injuries
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

What to Expect

During your remedial massage, we may use gentle, firm, deep or shallow pressure, depending on your condition and preference. While you may come to us with a specific injury or problem, we won’t just work on that area. Often times, an issue in 1 part of the body will create imbalance elsewhere. For example, if you have an injury in your left leg, you may favour your right leg, causing it strain.

Lymphatic Drainage

Also known as a lymphatic massage or manual lymph drainage, this treatment aims to improve the circulation of lymph—a fluid containing white blood cells—throughout the body. The circulation of lymph can be affected by stress, fatigue or infection, if protein molecules clog the lymph vessels or if the lymph nodes are removed, such as during breast cancer treatment. Poor lymph circulation can create issues in the body, such as digestion and joint swelling.

What can lymphatic drainage help with?

  • Fluid retention
  • Lymphoedema
  • Common colds
  • Digestion issues
  • Circulation problems
  • Post-surgery swelling
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Depression, stress & anxiety
  • Delayed onset muscle soreness

What to Expect

Your practitioner will use a series of manual, circular hand motions with a pumping or gliding technique. The treatment is very light in pressure, leaving you with a feeling of relaxation.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the practice of stimulating pressure points in the feet, hands and ears in accordance to the zones to rebalance the body. Throughout the treatment, we look for painful, tight or congested spots in the treatment areas, which helps us to stimulate the right area of the nervous system.

What can reflexology help with?

  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Joint pain
  • Circulation
  • Anxiety & stress
  • Degenerative disorders
  • Headaches & migraines
  • Skin disorders, such as acne

What to Expect

Where we start your reflexology treatment will depend on your problem. We may choose to work on your feet, hands, ears or a combination of each. For this reason, you can remain fully clothed (apart from shoes and socks) for this treatment. Your reflexologist will apply gentle pressure to the soles of your feet, palms of your hands and your ears. You may experience feeling in other areas of your body when a pressure point is stimulated, which is completely normal. Some people also experience thirt or have the overwhelming feeling to laugh or cry. This is also nothing to be worried about.

Chinese Cupping

Chinese cupping is an ancient method of holistic treatment used to rebalance qi and detoxify the body. It does this by gently pulling skin, tissue and muscle into the cup, which can stimulate the lymphatic system, relax the nervous system and increase your immune system.

What can Chinese cupping help with?

  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Rheumatism
  • Lung health
  • Common colds
  • Muscle spasms
  • Digestive health
  • Back & neck pain
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Headaches & migraines
  • Delayed onset muscle soreness

What to Expect

Our practitioner will apply flexible cups to treatment area. The cups create suction, drawing the skin, tissue and muscles upwards into the cup. We then gently move the cups around the surface. At no time should this treatment cause any pain and you should find the sensation very relaxing.
